Mary Lou, Emma Lou...we love you!

We went to my parents house this last weekend to celebrate my mom's (dare I say to all) 60th birthday--Happy Birthday, Mary Lou! And remember, "Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative." ~Maurice Chevalier, New York Times, 9 October 1960. And you're not old!!!

It was such a great time to see everyone and introduce the love of our lives, Emma Lou! My mom's and dad's side of the family finally got to met her and we got a little time to relax while they fought over the baby.

The plane ride was awesome, too! I fed her on the way up and she slept the entire time (2 hours). I pray California in July and August goes as nicely!

Here are some pictures of the trip and a few of her recently!

Are you my mother?

My first Mother's Day left me with a peaceful pride. You can't explain the joy and unconditional love you feel for your child until you have one. Suddenly, my life comes in second place and I would give up everything for the safety and happiness of Emma. Being a mother is something to celebrate every day, but I have no problem milking it for one day of the year, as well! :)

For my first Mother's Day, Emma started by gifting me a late morning--she slept until 9:30! We took a family trip to Starbucks and later, I got about 3 hours to myself to go running, relax and putz around. Donnie and Emma surprised me with a beautiful necklace with an 'E' engraved in it. It was so thoughtful of Emma! ;) we later went and celebrated with the rest of the Cavicchi/Hines mommas with some Chinese food. Nothing says, "Job well done, Mama!" like a Pupu platter and spicy mustard.

Uncle, uncle!

Uncle Stephen came to visit for 6 whole days. It was so amazing and Emma was in love at first site. The two of them bonded like super glue. It warmed my heart to see such love, from both parties. He has much better pics, but here's a glimpse into their unforgettable time together.

And I had to include Emma's latest bath photo...
